What is the baud rate?

The baud rate is the rate for serial communication.  When communicating with the seismograph using the software, the software baud rate and the instrument baud rate must be the same. The seismograph baud rate is set by finding the screen with the word BAUD.  The rate is next to it.  The software baud rate can be selected from the communication preferences.
