What is the com port? |

The com port is the port used by the computer for serial communication. A
list of available com ports will be shown in the communication preferences.
You can see what ports are available using Windows Device Manager. |

Windows XP |
- From the Start Menu right click My Computer and select Properties.
- From the System Properties dialog click the Hardware tab.
- Click Device Manager.
- From the Device Manager dialog expand Ports (Com & LPT).
- All available serial ports will be shown and will have names like COM1, COM2,
COM3, etc.
